Former Safeway Communications Chief Launches Own Firm

Kevin Herglotz, who previously served in senior communications positions at Safeway and in the administration of California Governor Pete Wilson, has launched HPA Strategies, a full-service strategic communications, public affairs and government relations firm.

SAN FRANCISCO—Kevin Herglotz, who previously served in senior communications positions at Safeway and in the administration of California Governor Pete Wilson, has launched HPA Strategies, a full-service strategic communications, public affairs and government relations firm based in San Francisco. HPA will advise clients on issues management, strategic communications, public relations, media, government affairs and corporate responsibility.

 

Prior to forming HPA Strategies, Herglotz was senior vice president of public affairs and government relations for Safeway, one of the largest food and drug retailers in North America, where he managed media relations, communications, legislative and political strategies, community relations and corporate giving programs. He also helped establish and manage the Coalition to Advance Healthcare Reform, bringing top business leaders together to push for market-based healthcare reforms at the state and national levels.

 

Previously, Herglotz served as deputy chief of staff and director of communications for the United States Department of Agriculture, one of the largest and most diverse federal agencies. He also worked in the Wilson administration, where he served as spokesperson in the Governor's press office and as communications director for the California Department of Food and Agriculture.
