STOCKHOLM—Göran Persson, Sweden’s Prime Minister from 1996 to 2006, is joining Publicis-owned corporate communications unit JKL as senior advisor and will work with Manning Selvage & Lee and JKL clients in the Nordic region and in Brussels.

“Göran has unique experience in international politics and the EU,” says Anders Lindberg, CEO of JKL Sweden. “He is known for his broad, personal knowledge of issues like climate change, European relations with Russia, and the challenges to the welfare state.  He will be a tremendous asset to our clients and our staff.”

Persson served as Prime Minister of Sweden between 1996 and 2006. During Sweden’s presidency of EU in 2001, he was also President of the European Council. Before becoming Prime Minister and party chairman of the Social Democratic Party, he served as Minister of Finance and Minister for Schools in the 1990s.

JKL was integrated with MS&L in January 2006. It recently opened an office in Brussels.
