PHILADELPHIA—Jay Devine, former executive vice president and general manager of  public relations at Tierney Communications, and Vince Powers, former president of Boyd Tamney Cross Public Relations and vice president with Tierney, have launched Devine & Powers Communications Group, a new public relations and communications firm headquartered in Philadelphia.

The firm will provide public relations services including communications counsel, media relations, crisis/issues management, event management, community relations, employee communications and investor relations/financial communications.

Devine has more than 20 years experience with regional and national financial, corporate, technology and healthcare clients. At Tierney, he helped rebrand the Yellow Pages Integrated Media Association and provided strategic guidance for the launch of Lincoln Financial Field for Lincoln Financial Group.

Powers most recently served as president of Boyd Tamney Cross Public Relations (BTCPR) where he launched the PR division.  In 18 months, BTCPR grew by 350 percent.

“Based on our combined experience in Washington, DC and Philadelphia, we felt the time was right to strike out on our own and establish a firm that would offer real access to senior-level counselors and provide a higher level of client service,” Devine says. “We wanted to have some ‘skin in the game’ and once again feel the excitement of providing breakthrough creative ideas to clients.”
