MOSCOW—Mmd Corporate & Public Affairs, a communications consultancy with offices throughout Central and Eastern Europe, has named Mikhail Kouriatchev, former chairman of Chamber of Commerce & Industry and assistant to the Prime Minister in the first Yeltsin cabinet, as its first chairman for the CIS.
Kouriatchev will be based in Moscow, relocating from Washington D.C., where he has lived for many years.
Kouriatchev served in the early 1990s in the first Yeltsin government, acting as assistant to the Prime Minister on international economic affairs. He has also served as acting chairman of the Russian Chamber of Commerce & Industry and is currently also an advisor to the Financial Institutions Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
As CIS Chairman, Kouriatchev will report to Mmd’s CIS regional director Stephen Lock, and will focus on developing the firm’s financial PR and IR practice in Russia and other CIS countries. According to Lock, “Mikhail’s unique mixture of government experience, his contacts across the Russian political and business spheres and understanding of Western business make him a unique and valuable bridge for us deep into the Russian business heartland.”
