DALLAS, April 26—Veteran corporate communicator Fred Stern has joined Sunwest Communications, the Dallas public relations firm founded by his brother, Andy Stern. He will work as part of a management team that also includes Susan Lomelino, who runs the firm’s consumer subsidiary, The Sun Agency.

Andy Stern says the appointment will allow him to focus more attention of crisis planning and crisis communications, a major specialty of the firm, while his brother will spend more time on the day-to-day management.

Prior to joining Sunwest, Fred Stern served as vice president of corporate communications and public affairs for Wyndham International, and earlier as senior vice president of corporate communications for Associates First Capital Corporation. His responsibilities included media relations, community and charitable affairs, internal communications and financial communications, as well as serving on the senior management committees of each company.

Earlier in his career, Stern was a senior aide to Governor Pete du Pont of Delaware and press secretary to the governor during his 1988 U.S. presidential primary campaign.
