SAN DIEGO, June 8—The Gable Group, one of San Diego’s leading independent public relations firms, has hired Jose Moreno as director of public affairs. Moreno joins the firm with more than 20 years of experience in Hispanic and English public affairs and journalism and will spearhead bilingual campaigns and supervise accounts such as the Metropolitan Transit Development Board’s Mission Valley East Trolley Extension, the Port of San Diego Ship Repair Association and WorkWell Systems.

“The recent census data validates what we’ve been seeing with our client needs the past few years—a steady increase in the number of companies and public agencies that needed to expand their cultural relations, marketing and public affairs efforts to the Hispanic community,” says Tom Gable, agency chairman and CEO. “Jose provides expertise in all three areas, plus broader public affairs and public relations experience to serve a range of client needs.”
Prior to joining The Gable Group, Moreno worked at Stoorza Communications. Before that, he worked in Paraguay and El Salvador for the United States Information Agency and in 1999 he served as deputy press secretary for California Governor Gray Davis, overseeing media relations activities for the departments of industrial relations, personnel, veterans affairs and agriculture.
