PALO ALTO—Robert Sherbin, formerly vice president of corporate communications at Gateway, has been named vice president of HP corporate media relations. In his new role, Sherbin will help shape HP’s communications strategy and manage its relationship with the media.

“Bob’s global experience provides him with a deep understanding of the range of issues affecting regional markets and how messages and activities must be linked to an overall global strategy,” says Allison Johnson, senior vice president of corporate marketing at HP. “He joins our team with an in-depth understanding of the media and an appreciation for establishing trusted relationships.”

Sherbin has more than a decade of experience in corporate communications with global companies, including HSBC Group, First Pacific, Gateway Asia Pacific and Merrill Lynch Asia Pacific. In 2003, he returned to Gateway, where he most recently led the corporate communications department following the company’s acquisition of eMachines and had responsibility for all media relations, among other duties.
