NEW YORK—GCI Group today has named Vish Ganpati as senior vice president and director, strategy and corporate development. A former Accenture management consultant and senior Verizon strategy director, Ganapathy’s expertise will bring added value to the execution of GCI’s corporate strategy which places an emphasis on analytics, quantification and measurement.

Ganpati will be responsible for advancing the firm’s strategic initiatives internally while also working directly with clients to apply more business analytics to the development of quantifiable communications strategies. He will report directly to Bob Feldman, GCI president and CEO, and work alongside Debjani Deb, GCI’s chief strategy officer (and another management consulting veteran) and Susan Pagano, GCI’s chief knowledge officer.

“For nearly two years we have been successfully evolving the way we do business at GCI to forge greater alignment between communications strategy and the business objectives of our clients,” said Feldman.  “Our obsession with business analysis, our rigorous approach to quantifying the client problem or opportunity, and our commitment to measuring the impact of our recommendations has created an opportunity to apply the management consulting and strategic expertise of someone like Vishy.”

Debjani, who joined GCI in January of 2002, will shift some of her responsibilities to Ganpati so she can direct GCI’s research consulting services comprised of senior consultants who are managing the firm’s growing demand for research of company profiles, industry trends, and competitive and audience analyses.

Prior to joining GCI, Ganpati was the senior director, corporate strategy and development group, at Verizon Communications where he led business and product development efforts and cross-functional teams on projects in the Wireline and Wireless markets. Previously, he worked with Accenture’s strategic services group and played a key role in creating its financial due diligence practice.
