NEW YORK—GCI Group is expanding its healthcare communications practice with the addition of two senior professionals. Kristen Gorusch joins GCI as senior vice president and regional director, based in San Francisco, having most recently worked for Ketchum in the Bay Area. And Steven Immergut, formerly of Catalyst Communications, has joined a group vice president in the New York healthcare practice.

In his new role, Immergut will oversee the day-to-day management of domestic and global healthcare accounts and will report to AnnaMaria DeSalva, executive vice president, who joined GCI from Bristol-Myers Squibb last year.

According to DeSalva, “Steven has domestic and global experience working with major brands and he has had the opportunity to work and live in Latin America, which provides a unique perspective when one is handling a global account.”

Immergut’s past experience includes positions at CPR Worldwide, where he managed global and domestic pharmaceutical and biotech public relations programs for Allergan, Bayer, Johnson & Johnson, and Roche; and Hill & Knowlton, where he was director of the firm’s Santiago, Chile office.

In her new role, Gorsuch will assume responsibility for growing the healthcare business of GCI’s Chicago and San Francisco offices. At Ketchum she worked with clients such as Genentech and Medtronic. She also led the company’s biotechnology initiative.
