NEW YORK—GCI Health has appointed Elisia Canna as director of consumer health. In a newly created position, Canna will focus on staying ahead of the consumer mindset, as individuals increasingly take ownership of their personal health. Her responsibilities include building out GCI Health’s consumer research offering and tools, expanding the agency’s consumer health product portfolio. She will report to Wendy Lund, CEO.

Canna was most recently at Porter Novelli where she served as executive vice president and deputy general manager of the New York health practice. Canna helped to develop and set business strategies while also providing strategic counsel to marketing and communications teams. Her experience includes preparing clients for prescription to over-the-counter conversions, product launches for both Rx and OTC products, and building brand loyalty in mature and saturated markets. High-profile campaigns including the launch of Nicorette, NicoDerm CQ and Commit Lozenge, as well as the Great American Smokeout.
GCI Health also has hired Kristen Pulsifer as an account director in the Los Angeles office. Previously, she managed the national consumer PR campaigns for GlaxoSmithKline?s Valtrex, Novartis’s Lescol XL for cholesterol, Ethicon-Endo Surgery’s Realize gastric band and Conceptus’s Essure Procedure for permanent birth control.
