NEW YORK—GCI Group has named Joel Babbit, whose experience spans both advertising and public relations, as president and chief creative officer, strengthening its U.S. management team and underscoring its commitment to creating fully integrated media-neutral communications strategies for its clients.

Babbit will drive the firm’s integrated communications strategy while developing and leading a new creative group within the agency and will report to Jeff Hunt, GCI CEO, while continuing in his current role within Grey Worldwide’s Atlanta operation.

“Joel has long been considered a pioneer in the advertising world for his belief in the power of public relations and true integrated marketing,” says Hunt. “In our new media world it’s more important than ever that we bring a fresh media-neutral perspective to our business.”

Babbit has worked with many of the world’s best known brands including The Coca-Cola Company, RJR Nabisco, Home Depot, USA Today, Trump Casinos, Del Monte and Cendant.  He has served in senior positions at McCann Erickson and Chiat/Day and was founder of both Babbit & Reiman Advertising and 360, the Atlanta-based integrated marketing firm acquired by Grey in 2002.
