LONDON, August 21—GCI Group has announced a strategic alliance with e-communications, a consultancy formed by former BBC head of multimedia Alan Griffiths. E-communications will continue to operate as an independent company but will be accommodated at GCI’s U.K. & European headquarters in London and will deliver expertise in interactive media and marketing to GCI clients.

E-communications pioneered the use of interactive systems to bring companies closer to their customers and shareholders. It has created interactive marketing strategies for the Governments of Malta and Guernsey and designed e-learning systems for one of the world’s largest vocational testers, City & Guilds. It has also developed electronic messaging campaigns for corporate clients including British Petroleum and Nokia.

As head of multimedia at BBC News in the mid-90sw, Griffths created the BBC News Online site. Macmillan published his first book about the battle for the online consumer, Quicksilver Companies, last year.

Says Griffiths, “GCI will be an excellent partner for e-communications as it is a global group and the power of interactive marketing appeals strongly to clients who need to communicate to worldwide audiences.  GCI has the foresight and the vision to see significant developments in this area.”
