GCI Taps O'Brien to Head New York Corporate Group

James O’Brien, most recently a senior vice president at Robinson Lerer & Montgomery, has joined GCI Group as executive vice president and director of the firm’s New York corporate practice.

NEW YORK—James O’Brien, most recently a senior vice president at Robinson Lerer & Montgomery, has joined GCI Group as executive vice president and director of the firm’s New York corporate practice.
 
According to New York office president Tom Reno, O’Brien’s experience in reputation management, crisis management and corporate and financial communications programs for Fortune 500 clients will enhance GCI’s capabilities at a time when market volatility, corporate governance and confidence issues are changing the needs of corporate clients.
 
“Corporate communications is facing unprecedented challenges today and successful management of this process requires counselors with an expansive knowledge of current issues and the foresight to see what reputation risks lie ahead,” says Reno. “Jim is ideally suited in both his experience and vision to guide our corporate practice to the next level of counsel.”
 
At Robinson Lerer & Montgomery, O’Brien specialized in corporate image campaigns, mergers and acquisitions, crisis management, litigation support, and reorganizations. He worked extensively with Pfizer Inc., and with a wide range of   other companies including IKON Office Solutions, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, SciQuest, and Affymetrix.
 
Prior to his tenure at Robinson Lerer & Montgomery, O’Brien held senior level positions at Hill & Knowlton, Manning Selvage & Lee, and Broadgate Consultants.
