NEW YORK—The New York City Host Committee for the Republican National Convention has retained GCI Group to provide on-site media services for members of the press throughout the convention. GCI Group will be working from the James A. Farley Building, which will house 10,000 members of the media during the convention.

“The advantage of having the media covering the convention in one location is that it allows the Host Committee to provide excellent services to the press,” said Host Committee president Kevin Sheekey.  “Perhaps the most important service we will provide to reporters is the ability to access helpful information about the convention and New York City quickly and easily, and we are very happy that the GCI Group will be providing this vital service.”

GCI will be responsible for disseminating of New York City Host Committee daily event schedules and logistical information for Host Committee-sponsored events; assisting media with requests (background information, interviews) pertaining to New York City, and referring to the applicable government agency or private organization; submitting fact-based research requests from reporters to Information Central 2004, a research service provided by the New York Public Library and the Special Libraries Association; and booking reservations and ground transportation for members of the media to daily New York City Host Committee events.
