NEW YORK, June 5—The Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA), a division of the Department of Health and Human Services, has retained the healthcare practice at GCI Group to help execute a broad-based, grassroots social marketing health communications campaign to educate the nation’s seniors and disabled population about Medicare services.

The contract is worth about $4.5 million, a significant expansion of GCI’s current work for HCFA. In November of 1999, GCI was hired as to work with HCFA’s 10 regional offices to promote the administration’s annual handbook, a toll-free line, and website. Now, GCI will provide hands-on strategic and tactical support for 10 HCFA regional offices across the U.S., helping to coordinate and implement community-based media and educational outreach campaigns.
According to Lois Serio, government task leader for the regional support contract, GCI Group’s “integrated marketing expertise and specialization in targeting diverse audiences make it a great fit for HCFA.” The project will be managed out of Atlanta with support from six additional GCI offices and affiliates across the country.
