GE's Comstock to Lead NBC Universal's Digital Unit

Beth Comstock, the senior communications professional at General Electric for the past eight years, has been named president of NBC Universal digital media and market development, a new job at GE’s entertainment division.

NEW YORK—Beth Comstock, the senior communications professional at General Electric for the past eight years, has been named president of NBC Universal digital media and market development, a new job at GE’s entertainment division.

The move marks a return to the media business for Comstock, who was previously vice president of communications at both NBC and NBC News. In her new role, she will lead NBC Uuniversal’s digital strategy and content and distribution efforts focused on new digital platforms. She will also be responsible for advertising, promotion and communications.

Comstock moved from NBC to GE in 1998 as vice president of communications, and was promoted to chief marketing officer at GE in 2003. Under her leadership, the company launched its high-profile “ecomagination” initiative, focused on environmental technologies. 

At the same time, Jeff Zucker has been promoted to CEO of NBC Universal Television Group, from president, and Randy Falco, formerly president of NBC Universal Television Group, has been named president and COO.
