WASHINGTON, D.C.—Michael Geczi, a veteran of financial communications positions at Ogilvy Adams & Rinehart, Gavin Anderson & Company and Edelman, has joined APCO Worldwide as a senior vice president. Geczi will work across the firm’s global network to support and enhance corporate communication efforts and will expand APCO’s presence in the New York market.
Geczi has significant experience in cross-border communication, especially related to Russia and the Asia-Pacific region: two of APCO’s areas of concentration. He has a wide range of corporate communication and issue management experience, having worked on assignments from mergers and acquisitions, to bankruptcies and restructurings, to litigation support and crisis communication.
“Mike’s experience working internationally and in the New York market strongly complements the direction of the firm,” said Neal Cohen, chairman of APCO Americas. “His financial expertise expands our ability to provide capital raising, merger and acquisition, bankruptcy and investor relations services to clients worldwide.”
Best known for its public affairs work, APCO has been building a corporate and financial communications team that includes vice chairman Larry Snoddon and Tim Croasdaile, senior vice president and head of investor relations.
Immediately prior to joining APCO, Geczi served as the Hong Kong-based president of Asia-Pacific financial communications for Edelman, after serving as an executive vice president of its U.S. financial practice. Before that, he worked for Sitrick & Company in New York, Los Angeles and Moscow, and earlier was president of Gavin Anderson & Company in New York. From 1989 to 1996, he was senior managing director of the corporate and financial practice group at Ogilvy Adams & Rinehart in New York.
Geczi's corporate experience includes positions as vice president of media relations for Merrill Lynch Capital Markets and as director of corporate communications for Midlantic National Bank.
