LONDON--Ruder Finn UK digital director Ged Carroll is leaving the firm to join Burson-Marsteller in Hong Kong.

Carroll departs Ruder Finn this week after almost four years as director of digital strategies. Next week, he begins his new role as director of digital, social media and interactive at Burson-Marsteller Hong Kong.

"The opportunity came up with B-M in Hong Kong and was something I knew I wanted to do straight away," Carroll told the Holmes Report.

"The people I spoke to, B-M's client roster in Asia, international work, size of network, the fast-moving digital landscape of East Asia and the opportunity to move to Hong Kong all played a part in the rationale."

Carroll joined Ruder Finn after three years at Waggener Edstrom. He has also worked at Yahoo, Firefly, Edelman and Weber.

"There's never a good time to make a move from an agency like Ruder Finn," he noted. "Things have come a long way in the three and a bit years I've worked here and we've spent the last few months working furiously on exciting things to come out of RF London that will come to fruition after my departure - so watch this space."

"My colleague Becky [McMichael] and I have worked together on and off for a decade and a half since we were both at Weber Group in the late Nineties, so leaving has been quite emotional," added Carroll.
