SHENZHEN, CHINA--Global corporate communications director Ross Gan is departing China’s Huawei after almost seven years with the electronics company.

Gan told the Holmes Report he is moving on to “new challenges.”

His stint in charge of Huawei’s international media affairs unit has rarely been dull. Huawei has expanded its international presence considerably in recent years, becoming one of the standard bearers for global Chinese expansion.

Like many Chinese companies, these growth plans have attracted scrutiny, particularly in relation to its ownership arrangements.

Under his leadership, Gan expanded Huawei’s international communications team, hiring a slew of executives in recent months. These included Scott Sykes, who is VP of international media affairs based in Shenzhen.

Gan joined Huawei in 2006 from The Hoffman Agency. Huawei did not respond to request for comment.
