WASHINGTON, D.C.—SKDKnickerbocker, a strategic communications firm with offices in Washington, D.C., and New York, has expanded its corporate, advocacy and crisis communications practice with the addition of Alex Slater as managing director.

Slater joins the firm after a decade at The Glover Park Group, where he led communications efforts for companies including Microsoft, JP Morgan Chase Cards, Harford Financial Services, Visa and organizations including the American Bankers Association, The Grocery Manufacturers’ Association, The Center for Constitutional Rights, People for the American Way, National Air Traffic Controllers Association and the American Postal Workers’ Union.

The new addition follows the April 2010 merging of Squier Knapp Dunn Communications and Knickerbocker Consulting under the SKDKnickerbocker name, and the return of principal Anita Dunn, who had been on leave from the company to serve as President Obama’s communications director

Prior to Glover Park, Slater was an account executive at Smithfield Financial, a London-based corporate communications firm, where he worked with clients such as Credit Suisse First Boston and Bank of Ireland.
