GM's Hu Joins GE to Head Corporate Advertising

Judy Hu has joined General Electric as general manager for corporate advertising and marketing communications. She will report to Beth Comstock, corporate vice president of communications.

NEW YORK—Judy Hu has joined General Electric as general manager for corporate advertising and marketing communications. She will report to Beth Comstock, corporate vice president of communications.
 
Hu joins GE from General Motors, where she has been executive director, diversity and growth markets. She was responsible for targeting GM’s marketing efforts to key demographic groups. Earlier, she served as executive director in charge of GM’s corporate advertising and retail programs where she played a key role in GM’s 2001 “Keep America Rolling”campaign.
 
In her new position, Hu will direct advertising, branding and marketing communications for GE. She also will develop strategies to strengthen and position the GE brand globally. And working closely with GE’s business units, she will manage consistency of the GE brand message and be responsible for driving leadership of GE’s marketing communications function throughout the company.
 
Previously, Hu was senior vice president of DMB&B in Detroit from1992, with GM as a top account. Earlier, she worked for Leo Burnett in Hong Kong.
 
The search was handled by New York-based executive search firm Heyman Associates.
