HONG KONG, November 9—The fall-out from the merger of Weber Shandwick Worldwide and BSMG Worldwide has spread to Asia, where the operations of Scotchbrook-BSMG Worldwide will be merged into sister company Golin/Harris International’s Golin/Harris Forrest, creating an operation with approximately 65 people in Hong Kong and an additional 20 in Singapore.

Weber Shandwick Worldwide will continue to operate under its own brand in both markets.

Anne Forrest, regional managing director of Asia for Golin/Harris, will continue in her role and focus on regional development for the firm. Godfrey Scotchbrook, who founded Scotchbrook Communications in 1991, will serve as senior counselor and continue to serve clients and help build business throughout the region.

“We have expanded significantly in Asia during the past 18 months,” says Golin/Harris chief executive Rich Jernstedt. “The merger of Scotchbrook-BSMG into our operations further strengthens our strategic capabilities in financial communications and investor relations, corporate communications and public affairs.”

Since becoming part of Interpublic three years ago, Golin has expanded in the Asia region, with offices in Taipei, Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong, and an affiliate network covering 10 countries.

C.T. Hew, who served as president Greater China of Scotchbrook-BSMG, will become managing director of the Hong Kong operations, and Jeff Schultz, currently managing director Singapore for Golin/Harris Forrest, will become managing director for Southeast Asia. Allen Lee will become managing director Singapore of Golin/Harris Forrest, and Ong Choon Hwa will continue as executive director.
