CHICAGO, January 11—Golin/Harris International has hired Asia market veteran Serge Dumont as non-executive chairman of the Asian operations of its Springpoint brand consultancy. Dumont, who previously headed the Asian operations of Edelman Public Relations Worldwide, will be responsible for leading the company’s development in Asia, with expansion into Asia the first priority.

London-based Springpoint, which provides brand strategy and corporate identity counsel to clients including Unilever, Vodafone, and Lufthansa, was acquired by Golin/Harris in 2001 and is being expanded internationally. Dumont will work alongside Michael McComb, mnanaging director of Springpoint Asia, and Fenella McCarthy, the firm’s head of brand consultancy.

According to Golin CEO Rich Jernstedt, “Given the many cultural complexities of doing business in this part of the world, we have assembled an experienced team of experts to help us achieve our strategic objectives. Dumont is an excellent addition to this team.”

In 1985, Dumont founded Interasia Communications, which he sold to Edelman in 1993.

Golin/Harris has also promoted Steve Hamilton, executive vice president, to managing director of the firm’s CrossMedia division, which specializes in event marketing. Hamilton replaces Nancy Spears, who is retiring in February.
