GolinHarris to Lead PR for Campaign to Prevent Blindness

Prevent Blindness America has named Foote Cone & Belding as its advertising agency of record and GolinHarris as its public relations counsel.

CHICAGO—Prevent Blindness America has named Foote Cone & Belding as its advertising agency of record and GolinHarris as its public relations counsel. Prevent Blindness America is a volunteer eye health and safety organization dedicated to preventing blindness and preserving sight and provided more than 2.5 million free vision screenings for adults and children in 2005 alone.

“This is an exciting time for Prevent Blindness America as we will turn 100 years old in 2008, and are experiencing unprecedented growth,” said Daniel Garrett, senior vice president.

The two agencies are working together to develop a campaign that will raise awareness of Prevent Blindness America and the importance of regular eye care as part of Americans’ preventive healthcare activities. The group’s objective is to encourage an shift in the public’s perception about preventing loss of vision and blindness, increasing awareness that eye health screenings to help prevent common diseases that can lead to vision loss.

“Knowing that half of all blindness is preventable, we are extremely focused on educating the public on how to protect its vision,” said Scott Farrell, executive vice president and managing director of GolinHarris in Chicago.
