WASHINGTON, D.C.—Karen Hanretty, most recently communications director for the National Republican Congressional Committee, will join Qorvis Communications in December as a managing director.

The firm that while November 4 brought big wins for Democrats nationwide, “it also set the stage for dozens of public affairs battles that will be waged over the next several years,” and that adding Hanretty’s Republican credentials to its bipartisan staff will add value. “The dozens of public affairs battles that will be fought over the next several years will be won with ‘purple’ strategies and bipartisan communications,” says Michael Petruzzello, Qorvis’ managing partner.

Hanretty, who has been a national political commentator for Fox, CNN and MSNBC for the past five years, was previously deputy communications director for Fred Thompson’s presidential primary bid and a leading spokeswoman for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s gubernatorial campaign.
