NEW YORK—FD has appointed Jack Gutt as managing director in the firm’s special situations group. He will be based in New York where he will work with the team advising on complex financial and reputation-oriented issues, including transactions, crises, and other challenges facing companies today. In addition, he will play an additive role in advancing FD’s Latin American strategy, building on the firm’s acquisition of Gravitas, a specialist firm based in Colombia and Panama, earlier this year.

Gutt has more than 12 years experience counseling companies on crisis and issues management, transactions, earnings and corporate positioning and leadership programs. He joins FD following six years as a founding partner of Vistance Group, a corporate and financial communications firm based in New York, before which he spent several years with Hill & Knowlton in New York and South Florida.

Before joining Hill and Knowlton, Gutt spent several years working in Latin America as a consultant for the Presidency of the Republic of Ecuador on its privatization and modernization program.
