NEW YORK—Hill & Knowlton has opened of a full-service office in Tallahassee, Fla. The office will be managed by Cindy O’Connell, most recently head of her own Florida-based consulting firm, RBBO.

“The continued growth of our client needs for counsel and support on critical issues affecting the state drives this expansion of H&K in Florida,” said Harry Costello, general manager of Hill & Knowlton Tampa, the firm’s Florida headquarters office. “The dynamics of Florida government that play in the life of all Floridians, as well as the growing link between Tallahassee and Washington, D.C., demand that H&K be capable of immediate response to client needs in the state capital.”

Gene Reineke, Hill & Knowlton’s chief operating officer and general manager of Hill & Knowlton Washington, D.C., said the new Tallahassee office is part of the agency’s strategic plan is to expand into the capitals of states that reflect bellwether trends in both business and politics. “Florida’s growth and role in national politics spurred our decision,” he added.

O’Connell has managed her own consulting firm, RBBO, for the past year. Prior to that, she managed the office of RBB/Weber Shandwick and has extensive experience working with state and local governments in Florida, as well as a broad background in consumer and sports marketing and the gaming industry.
