STAMFORD—Thomas Hayes has been named group vice president in charge of global public relations at Gartner, reporting to Zachary Morowitz, executive vice president of corporate development. Prior to joining Gartner, Hayes was a managing director at IPR in New York.
Gartner is a research and advisory firm that helps more than 10,000 clients leverage technology to achieve business success.
Hayes began his career at The New York Times in 1979 as a business reporter, and served as Los Angeles economic correspondent and Dallas economic correspondent. In 1993, he joined Tenneco as executive director of corporate communications, and in 1996 was named special assistant to the chairman and chief executive officer, based in Greenwich, Conn.
After a stint as an independent editorial consultant, he joined McKinsey & Co., Stamford, as manager-center and sector communications with responsibilities for external communications in McKinsey’s global business technology office. He joined IPR in 2003.
