NEW YORK, May 20—The Hazelnut Council, an industry coalition promoting U.S. hazelnut consumption, has selected Publicis Dialog as agency of record to handle public relations, advertising, direct marketing and special events.

“Publicis Dialog understands the growth potential of hazelnuts in the U.S. markets and has the strategic insight and creative talent to help us achieve that potential,” said Bob Bauer, the Council’s executive director. “Above all, we expect their credibility in the food industry to make a decided difference in expanding our market.”

The account will be led by John Bissell, senior principal and group management director of Publicis Dialog’s food commodities group. The agency’s new culinary center in Seattle will be used for
product and recipe development, food industry workshops, food photography and sensory perception research.

The campaign aims to increase the consumption of hazelnuts by promoting their use in new products and menu items, as well as boosting consumer demand.
