NEW YORK—Porter Novelli has named healthcare communications veteran Greg Baird as a partner in its New York office, where he will direct the healthcare practice.

Formerly in charge of global pharmaceutical communications for Novartis, Baird has experience in areas such as change management, employee communications, community relations, reputation management and product marketing. The Porter Novelli New York healthcare practice currently focuses heavily on prescription and over-the-counter brands, representing such clients as Amgen, Baxter, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck Schering-Plough and Wyeth.

According to Helen Ostrowski, global CEO of Porter Novelli.  “Greg’s experience in the corporate suite at both Novartis and Genentech ensures that he will have an impact at the agency well beyond our healthcare practice.”

Prior to Novartis, Baird was vice president of corporate communications for Genentech, where he served as a member of their executive committee. Previous experience over the last two decades includes positions at Searle and Pfizer, as well as key positions with other top tier public relations agencies.
