BRIDGEWATER, NJ—Stephen Ross, formerly a principal with the public affairs firm of Holt & Ross, has formed the Ross Public Affairs Group, a new firm specializing in issues management and public acceptance of controversial facilities. Holt & Ross, which specialized in environmental issues consulting, ceased doing business on February 28, 2003.

The Ross Public Affairs Group will focus on environmental, crisis and risk communications, litigation and regulatory support, facility siting, grassroots lobbying, third-party advocacy and public involvement programs, according to Ross.

“Our team brings more than four decades of public affairs campaign experience to meeting the tough challenges so many companies that operate in a regulated environment are facing today,” he says. “What sets us apart from other firms is the innovative public issues management approach we’ve developed.”

That approach brings together public affairs strategists, attorneys, economic development specialists, community relations professionals, conflict management experts and grassroots campaign managers to develop integrated communications programs that deliver bottom-line results.

Joining Ross are long-time associates Kelly Henry and Dan Capriotti.

The firm will work closely on litigation support and third-party advocacy with the law firm of Kirkpatrick & Lockhart, which has offices in Newark, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, San Francisco, Miami, Dallas, Washington, DC and New York City, as well as other cities throughout the country. The relationship “allows us to provide clients with an integrated approach to managing and resolving issues inside and outside the courtroom and the hearing room,” says Ross.

Meanwhile, partner Jon Holt is a principal in Holt Mulroy & Germann, a reputation management firm with offices in Trenton and Washington, D.C. The firm will offer crisis and issues management counsel and siting advice.
