LONDON--Yasmin Diamond is departing her role as Home Office communications director to join Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG).

Diamond becomes SVP of global corporate affairs at IHG, filling the role vacated by Leslie McGibbon last year. McGibbon has since become VP of global comms for consumer healthcare at GSK.

At IHG, Diamond will report to CEO Richard Solomons. She joins the company after numerous years of public sector experience, including serving as communications director at the Department for Food, the Environment and Rural Affairs; head of corporate communications and marketing at the Department for Education and Skills; and roles at the BBC and the NHS.

"Yasmin brings with her many years of experience dealing with constantly changing opportunities and challenges across the communications mix, which will further strengthen IHG's senior management team," said Solomon in a statement.

"Her breadth of experience across internal and external communications in a wide variety of sectors and media channels will complement the strong hospitality experience within our existing communications teams," says Richard Solomons on the appointment."
