PARSIPPANY, NJ—Skanska USA Building, the U.S.-based construction services arm of the $15.9-billion Swedish company Skanska AB, has appointed Thomas Crane as senior vice president, corporate communications. Crane, who was previously director of corporate media relations for Honeywell, reports to Skanska USA Building president and CEO Michael Healy.

Crane is responsible for providing strategic direction for Skanska’s communications function, overseeing employee communications, media relations, advertising, brand management, crisis communications and marketing services. He is currently leading initiatives supporting the consolidation of Skanska USA Building’s U.S. companies and its move to a single-brand approach across the country.

Crane joined Honeywell (then AlliedSignal) in 1995 and initially served in communications leadership roles for the company’s chemical businesses. He later moved to AlliedSignal’s corporate communications group, where he led external communications and served as chief corporate spokesperson during the company’s 1999 acquisition of Honeywell Inc., General Electric’s bid for Honeywell, and retired Honeywell Chairman and CEO Larry Bossidy’s subsequent return to the company. He also has experience on the agency side of the business with Ruder Finn.
