NEW YORK—Andy Hopson, who has served as president of the brand marketing consultancy Real Good Idea since he left his position as CEO of the Northeast region for Burson-Marsteller last year, has joined Ruder Finn as managing director of its Chicago office.
Hopson will be responsible for managing Ruder Finn’s Chicago clients, for new business development in the Midwest and for expanding the agency’s brand and offerings in the market. He replaces Howard Solomon, who recently moved to head up the San Francisco office and who remains executive vice president of regional operations for the agency. Hopson will report to Richard Funess, president of Ruder Finn/ Americas.
According to Funess, Hopson’s “leadership style and broad-based experience with consumer, business-to-business and technology clients are a good fit with our business and culture. As Ruder Finn’s senior leader in the Midwest, we’re looking to him to grow our business beyond the solid technology base we’ve established in Chicago to the brand-marketing arena.”
Prior to joining Burson-Marsteller, Hopson held senior positions with EvansGroup, later Publicis Dialog. As an EvansGroup senior partner, he helped negotiate its acquisition by Publicis in 1998. He then led Publicis Dialog as president and coo, handling several acquisitions as the firm expanded to become a national public relations firm.
