LONDON — HSBC has brought in Finsbury to support its global public affairs unit, a remit that was previously handled by FTI Consulting.

The news, first reported in yesterday's Sunday Times, comes after HSBC restructured its global communications last year, bringing in Katja Hall from the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) to oversee public affairs, including corporate media relations.

The Holmes Report understands that the new Finsbury relationship, which began at the start of August, is being managed by Hall. Representatives from HSBC declined to comment.

HSBC has experienced considerable turbulence in recent years, including poor financial performance and a major corporate crisis regarding its Swiss operation's efforts to help clients avoid taxes.
