LONDON—The Global Consulting Group, the international corporate communications, investor relations, and public affairs consulting subsidiary of Lord Chadlington’s Huntsworth Group, is acquiring Ergo Communications, a European public affairs and corporate communications consultancy with a range of international clients.

The acquisition significantly broadens GCG’s public affairs capabilities in Europe. Ergo has 17 professionals in its London office and a client list that includes Mars, ABN AMRO, EBS, and the World Federation of Advertisers.

Ergo’s Blanaid Colley will head the group’s U.K. corporate communications practice and Jeremy Kane will head public affairs, also in the U.K. Both will report to Christopher Bunting, the senior managing director of GCG’s operations in the United Kingdom.

Says Richard Wolff, chief executive officer of GCG, “Ergo brings to GCG a first rate European public affairs capability that helps round out our communications services in that geography. Moreover, we expect to see immediate and demonstrable synergies from the addition of Ergo’s corporate communications group. Overall, with the addition of Ergo, and under the leadership of Christopher Bunting, the London office of GCG can now provide strategic communications counsel to clients in all three of our core practice areas—investor relations, corporate communications and public affairs.”

On the public affairs front, Kane will work closely with former vice presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro, who heads the U.S. public affairs practice.
