WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation has selected Ignition Strategic Communications to build awareness of a new project designed to help Americans channel their love of country since September 11 into meaningful political and civic change in their communities.

Harwood’s New Patriotism Project, funded by The Pew Charitable Trusts, is designed “to provide political candidates, news media and citizens with the vision, tactics and tools needed to convert patriotic feelings into long-lasting action.”

Over the coming year, Ignition will provide strategic counsel, media relations and public affairs services to the New Patriotism Project, which will hold civic forums in seven communities; recruit Americans to sign a Declaration of Responsibility expressing their intention to create a better, more engaged society; conduct research through a national survey and focus groups; and provide Action Kits to civic groups and news organizations working to improve communities.
