LONDON: Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has lured Joyce Lorigan, CEO at UK agency Golley Slater PR, to a newly-created position as VP of global communications.

Lorigan will report to senior VP of global comms at IHG, Leslie McGibbon. She arrives at the world's largest hotel company one year after selling her agency Margaret Street to Golley Slater, and becoming CEO of the ad agency's PR division.

McGibbon said that Lorigan will play a key role as IHG steps up its marketing efforts in the coming months. The company is an official sponsor of the London 2012 Olympics, and McGibbon said it was investing significantly in PR and internal engagement.

"It's an exciting time at IHG and we're delighted to attract a communications industry heavyweight like Joyce who brings a huge amount of international and brand communications skills with her," said McGibbon.

Lorigan begins her new role on 12 July, based in IHG's global HQ in the UK. Prior to founding Margaret Street, she headed comms for the Walt Disney Company across EMEA.
