LONDON--InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has appointed Ogilvy PR to boost the company's awareness amongst global talent within the creative industries.

Ogilvy PR’s appointment follows a two-way competitive pitch process, and comes after IHG consolidated its marketing communications with WPP earlier this year.

As well as engaging top marketers externally, a team from Ogilvy PR’s corporate and public affairs practice will work to showcase and celebrate the best of IHG’s creative marketing across its portfolio of hotel brands.

“We are very pleased to be working with Ogilvy PR to build awareness of IHG’s strong and innovative brand marketing capabilities," said Tamara Strauss, IHG director of global cross brand communications. "Our brands are at the heart of everything we do and we were looking for an agency that understood this and could deliver strong results through creative but practical ideas.”

IHG has nine hotel brands with over 4,600 hotels in nearly 100 countries and territories. They include specialist brands, like HUALUXE Hotels & Resorts, the first upscale international travel brand aimed at the Chinese traveler, and the new EVEN Hotels, designed around wellness. IHG’s portfolio also includes luxury brands like InterContinental Hotels & Resorts and value player Holiday Inn Express  Hotels.

Ogilvy PR’s IHG team will be led by head of corporate and public affairs, Iain Bundred.
