NEW DELHI—Indian PR firm Six Degrees has promoted Karan Punia to CEO.

Punia moves into the top spot after spending the past three years as GM of Six Degrees' New Delhi office.

The promotion comes as Six Degrees co-founders Zac James and Rishi Seth focus more of their efforts on developing a stronger agency culture and infrastructure. Seth previously served as Six Degrees CEO since its launch in 2009.

James and Seth launched Six Degrees in 2009 after departing Text 100, where they both held leadership positions. Punia joined them from the same firm, one year later. Since then, Six Degrees has grown rapidly, winning the Holmes Report's New Agency of the Year award in 2011.
