BRUSSELS—European corporate affairs consultancy Interel has appointed Benno van der Laan as the new managing director for the firm’s 35-strong European affairs practice, Interel Cabinet Stewart. Van der Laan is replacing Tom Parker who, after 11 years with the company, is moving on to join Interel’s strategic partner in Brussels, Cambre Associates, a specialized communications consultancy with which Interel has a close relationship.
Van der Laan spent 10 years as a Brussels-based EU consultant and is currently the head of Interel Cabinet Stewart’s office in Washington D.C., which he established in 2001, providing EU advice to U.S. clients. In his new role, he will regularly travel to the U.S and Interel will look to further strengthen its capabilities in that market.
He will also work closely with Catherine Stewart, chairman of Interel Cabinet Stewart, and Fredrik Lofthagen, CEO of Interel.
