BRUSSELS—Hasgrove, the U.K-based marketing and communications group that last year acquired Belgian public relations firm Interel, has added independent European Union public affairs consultancy Cabinet Stewart. The two firms will complement each other—Interel has its own EU public affairs capability—and are planned to merge in 2009.
Cabinet Stewart was formed in 1990 and now has EU consultancy offices in Brussels and Washington DC, servicing an impressive list of blue chip multinational clients.
According to Cabinet Stewart founder and managing director Catherine Stewart: ”Joining the Hasgrove group will take Cabinet Stewart to the next level of service without losing the qualities which have earned its reputation in the market place.”
Interel chief executive Fredrik Lofthagen says the firm aims to create a European network based around a Brussels hub by 2010. “Catherine and I started these discussions almost two years ago and we realised that the two practices were complementary both in client mix and in expertise,” says Lofthagen.
