AstraZeneca has appointed Porter Novelli U.K. to handle global communications for its lung cancer drugs gefitinib and vandetanib. Porter Novelli will be responsible for coordinating a global creative communications program.

LONDON—AstraZeneca has appointed Porter Novelli U.K. to handle global communications for its lung cancer drugs gefitinib and vandetanib. Porter Novelli will be responsible for coordinating a global creative communications program, paving the way for these two brands in an area of high unmet medical need.  Activities will include data and issues management and media relations to support both drugs in 2007 and beyond. Gefitinib is currently licensed for the treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer in 35 countries. Vandetanib is currently in Phase III development for the treatment of NSCLC, offering a targeted approach by inhibiting two key sources of cancer growth. 

NEW DELHI—Mutual Public Relations, one the leading full service public relations firms in India, is expanding with the establishment of an office at Singapore. Mutual PR is headquartered in New Delhi and currently has branch offices in leading Indian business centers including Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Pune. Co-founder and CEO Pravin Dubey says the new office “is an extension of our commitment to our clients across domain areas of information technology and financial and corporate public relations. Apart from our existing clients we are also looking at providing full scale strategic consultancy to a large number of corporates who are eyeing India and want to establish their presence in the India market.”

NEW DELHI—The Boeing Company has named Lizum Mishra as corporate communications director for Boeing India. She will be based in Boeing’s India headquarters in New Delhi and will lead the coordination of the company’s India corporate communications strategy. Mishra joins Boeing from Sapient, where she managed marketing and communications programs and was responsible for increasing its brand recognition in India. Prior to her position with Sapient Corporation, Mishra was a journalist with CNN in India and the United States.

LONDON—Jo Grierson, Melissa Hinds and Andrew Robinson have become directors at Euro RSCG Biss Lancaster, joining the board. Grierson, who works in the brands practice, joined Biss Lancaster in August 06 from Starfish Communication; Hinds joined in 1999 from Alphabet Communications and works across the Manchester and Edinburgh practice group; and Robinson joined in November 06 from College Hill and works across the corporate and b2b practice group.  

LONDON—Kaizo has been awarded the pan European public relations brief by U.S.-based Netcordia, a leading provider of network management solutions. The program includes pan-European press and analyst relations and will be targeted at IT managers and CXOs of medium to large businesses across key vertical sectors such as finance, retail and government.

LONDON—Siegel+Gale, the strategic branding firm, has acquired Karakter, an international branding firm headquartered in London.

DELHI—Sical Logistics, a leading Indian provider of integrated multi-modal logistics solutions, has appointed Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide as its public relations agency.
