LONDON—Pan-European technology public relations specialist AxiCom has appointed Amanda Metti as the new head of its consumer practice. Metti’s was global head of the GN Mobile account and local head of the TomTom and Steria accounts with ABC Hill & Knowlton in Denmark and served as business PR manager for O2 UK. She previously worked with AxiCom from 1998 to 2002.
“This appointment formalizes AxiCom’s U.K. consumer practice and provides additional senior-level support for our existing consumer clients including PC World, Linksys, TopUp TV and Sling Media,” says AxiCom CEO Julian Tanner. “Her international consumer PR experience strengthens both AxiCom’s U.K. consumer capabilities and our pan-European consumer capability.”
LONDON—GCI London has been appointed by BAA Retail, the world’s largest airport authority, to support the trade, consumer and retail communications plans for the run up to the launch of Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport.
Working with Katie Breckenridge, retail marketing manager for Terminal 5, GCI will target both trade and consumer media in the U.K. and across the globe to communicate the Terminal 5 retail offering, which will offer travelers a breakthrough retail experience. According to Colin Hargrave, managing director of U.K. airport retail at BAA, “We chose GCI for its strategic, creative approach as well as its detailed knowledge of the retail arena.”
