HONG KONG—PayPal communications head Jenny Yip is departing the ecommerce company to become GM of the Hoffman Agency's Hong Kong office.

Yip leaves PayPal, where she led communications for Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea, after almost nine years with the company.

At Hoffman, she replaces Ann Hung, who is leaving after less than a year with the firm. Prior to Hung, Hoffman's Hong Kong operation was led by the firm's current Asia-Pacific business development and marketing VP, Jenny Chan.

Yip's arrival comes after Hoffman named Cassandra Cheong as its new regional leader last year. Also last year, PayPal hired Yvonne Koh as Asia-Pacific communications head, filling a role that had been vacant for 12 months.

"The addition of Jenny to an already strong bench of talent will enable us to continue to provide our existing clients with the insights and strategy they expect, while expanding our client portfolio in Hong Kong and across the region," said Cheong.

"Her local insights, in-house and agency experience make her uniquely qualified to retool our skillset to provide high-touch yet relevant services to clients, supporting them to communicate with their stakeholders in an authentic and compelling manner."

Hoffman was one of the agencies that PayPal worked with during Yip's tenure with the company. "As a former client, I was always impressed with the collaborative philosophy, strategic creative thinking for sophisticated campaigns and the responsiveness that the team provided," said Yip. "I look forward to joining this big family and continuing the no-nonsense, integrated communications consulting to our clients who value substance over spin."

Prior to PayPal, Yip held leadership roles at eBay and National Geographic Channel.
