SINGAPORE--Low-cost carrier Jetstar Asia has handed consumer PR duties for Southeast Asia to AKA Asia following a competitive review.

AKA Asia secures the account following a pitch that included three other firms. Jetstar Asia has previously worked with Australian firm Haystac across Australia and Southeast Asia. In Australia, Jetstar shifted PR duties to Undertow Media in late 2012.

Part of the Jetstar Group that also includes Australia's Qantas Jetstar, the Singapore-headquartered airline has seen steady growth since launching in 2004, carrying 2.7m passengers in its latest fiscal year.

“As Jetstar continues to grow at a rapid pace, we are pleased to have established a partnership with AKA," said Liz McCarthy, head of marketing and public relations for Jetstar Asia. "The team impressed us with its imaginative and resourceful approach to communications, and we are confident that they will help us to continue to build strong brand affinity with the general public.”

Launched in January 2009 as part of Impact Asia, AKA spun off under its new identity in late 2011.
