BRUSSELS—Brandon Mitchener, European Union correspondent for The Wall Street Journal, is joining APCO as a director in its Brussels office.
Mitchener has worked with the Journal in Europe for almost a decade, most recently as Brussels correspondent responsible for EU politics and business affairs, with a particular focus on competition policy, business regulation and the EU Constitution.
“Brandon is a very well-respected and prominent journalist among the Brussels press corps. He will take a leading role in our media practice, adding greatly to our experienced multi-county media team,” says Ivo Ilic Gabara, managing director of European media relations at APCO.
Mitchener has worked on stories about the WorldCom-Sprint, HP-Compaq, AOL-Time Warner and GE-Honeywell merger cases and the landmark Microsoft case. He has also covered new European rules governing automobile distribution, spam, copyright protection and food safety, including biotech foods.
Prior to the Brussels position, Mitchener was the Wall Street Journal’s European automotive correspondent out of Frankfurt.
