LONDON—Kaizo has been appointed by Dunkin’ Donuts as PR agency of record for its return to the UK.

The firm secures the business as the iconic US brand gears up to open 50 restaurants in Greater London over the next five years and 150 overall.

Last month, Dunkin' Donuts hired Nexus/H to handle lead creative duties for the rollout.

The chain pulled out of the UK in the mid-Nineties, but operates in more than 100 locations across Europe — in Bulgaria, Germany, Russia and Spain. Overall, Dunkin’ Donuts currently has nearly 10,800 restaurants in 31 countries around the world.

“We believe that Dunkin’ Donuts’ innovative combination of great-tasting food and beverages served in a fast, friendly and fun environment will appeal to the people of Great Britain and will fit right into the UK’s dynamic market," said Justin Drake, PR manager at Dunkin' Brands Group.

The company is understood to be focusing in particular on the morning market, dominated by such brands as Starbucks and McDonald's. Rival doughnut brand Krispy Kreme has been present in the UK for a decade and now operates nearly 50 stores.

"The launch will incorporate a smart mix of media experiences and taste sensations, highlighting the heritage of the iconic global brand,” added Kaizo MD Rhodri Harries.

Kaizo has previously launched US brands Truvia and Fitbit in the UK.
