Kennedy Named VP at Amgen

NEW YORK—Marie Kennedy has joined biotechnology leader Amgen as vice president of corporate communications. She was previously senior director of corporate affairs for Genentech.

In her new role, Kennedy will report to Richard Nanula, executive vice president for finance, strategy and communications.

Her previous experience includes positions as manager of corporate communications at Qubix Graphic Systems, manager of marketing communications at MDL Information Systems, and director of marketing communications at Frame Technology Corp. She also worked as director of client services at Lena Chow Advertising, specializing in healthcare and science communications, and ran her own consulting business.

At Genentech she was responsible for launching Genentech’s oncology initiative as well as its first monoclonal antibodies approved for cancer in the United States. She eventually headed up the corporate affairs team with overall responsibility for internal and external communications, investor relations, philanthropy and community affairs.
