NEW YORK, November 13—Six months after his fast-growing technology public relations firm was acquired by Ketchum, Paul Rand has been named associate director of the international agency’s global technology practice.

Rand founded Corporate Technology Communications in Chicago three-and-a-half years ago, and grew it to close to $10 million in fees before it was acquired by Ketchum in June. Since joining Ketchum, Rand has already assumed a major role in helping develop strategic communications initiatives for a number of key clients, according to agency CEO Ray Kotcher.

“Paul brings great depth as a technology entrepreneur, a business strategist and as a respected communicator,” says Paul McKeon, director of the global technology practice.

Despite this year’s challenging business environment, Ketchum’s global technology practice has added nearly 40 new clients this year.  In addition to current activities for clients such as Transmeta, Cingular, Intuit, and Nokia, Ketchum—as part of Omnicom’s One Blue team—serves IBM’s customer contact group and recently began working for Kodak’s professional division.
